Introductions of Biocontrol Agents in India
This site attempts to document the introductions of insect parasitoids, predators, and pathogens for biological control in India, primarily for classical biological control of introduced pests. Information is provided mainly on arthropods (insects and mites for biological control of insect pests and weeds), entomopathogenic nematodes, and microbial pathogens for insect / plant disease control. Details of scientific name, year and origin of introduction, target pest(s) and / or crops, and references are given for all the species and complete fact sheets are given for those bioagents which are well established and used in augmentative biological control in India. Besides, an account of recent invasive pests in India is given along with other details.
